Collage
Collage puts several pictures on one page: the front and back of an ID card at real size, two pages side by side, or six receipts for an expense report. The result is a new document; the scans and photos you used stay as they are.
What it is
You pick scans and photos, in the order you want, then lay them out in the editor:
| Template | What it does |
|---|---|
| ID card, real size | Two cards a page, front on top and back below, each at the real size of a bank card (85.6 × 54 mm), with a light cut line. |
| 2 up, 3 up, 4 up, 6 up | That many pictures a page, in a grid. More pictures go on more pages. |
| Receipts | Fits as many receipts as it can on each page, all at one width, keeping each one’s shape. |
| Free | Drag pictures anywhere and pinch to resize them. |
You can also choose:
- The page: A4, Letter or Fit (as tall as the content; not for the ID template), Portrait or Landscape.
- Margin and gap: None, Small or Medium.
- Caption under each picture: None, Title or Date.
Make collage saves a new document, titled for example “Collage, 30 Oct 2026”, or “Residence permit (front and back)” with the ID template.
When to use it
- A copy of your ID, front and back on one sheet, the way offices ask for it.
- A month of receipts on two pages instead of thirty.
- Two pages of a contract side by side, or a before-and-after.
Step by step
Start a collage
Pick any of these:
- Tap +, then under Make from what you have tap Collage.
- Tap Tools, then Collage under Pages.
- On a document, tap Edit → Make a collage…. Its pages are already picked.
- On a photo, tap Edit → Add to a collage….
- In a list, tap Select, pick scans and photos, then tap Collage in the bar at the bottom.
Pick what goes in
- Tap scans and photos in the order they should appear. Each one gets a number. Use Search your scans and photos to find one.
- Tap Next.
A scan brings all its pages. You can take pages out in the editor. A collage holds up to 60 pictures.
Lay it out
- Choose a Template. Two card-shaped pictures start on ID card, real size.
- Choose the page, the margins and the captions.
- Tap a picture to Swap with…, Replace…, Rotate or Remove it. In Free, drag to move and pinch to resize.
- Tap Add at the top to bring in more scans or photos.
- If the collage has several pages, use the arrows to look at each one.
- Tap Make collage. You see “Collage made”, and the new document opens.
Free and Pro
Collage is free.
Privacy
- The collage is made on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to our server.
- The new document keeps the strictest marks of what went into it: if one picture is an ID or another protected paper, the collage is protected too; if one is marked Never send to AI, so is the collage. It’s never named by AI.
- IDs, medical, bank and tax papers show a lock in the picker and ask for Face ID when you pick them.
- Items in a private vault are never offered. You can move the finished collage to a vault with More → Move to a vault.
- The collage’s text comes from the text Paperwise already read on each page, so you can search it right away.
Tips
- For real size on paper, print at 100% (“Actual size”), not “Fit to page”. The ID template prints at real size on A4 and Letter.
- A collage made from the Tools screen lands on Home. One made from a folder’s + lands in that folder; from a document, next to it.
- PDFs and Word files can’t go in a collage directly. Open one and use Edit → Make a scan first.
What if…
What if a scan or file isn’t in the list?
Collage takes scans and photos. Notes, cards, PDFs and Office files aren’t listed, and nothing in a private vault or in Recently deleted is.
What if the cards come out the wrong size?
The ID template sets a picture to real card size when it’s close to a card’s shape. A picture that isn’t card-shaped is fitted inside the card. Retake it with ID card for a clean crop.
What if I want to change a collage later?
A collage is a normal document. Use Edit, Markup and Share on it like any scan, or make a new collage from the same pictures.
