The Account screen
On this page
Account holds your plan and every setting, each on its own page. Open it with Account in the bottom bar, or by tapping your avatar at the top of Home. On iPad, it’s at the foot of the sidebar.
What it is
From the top:
- The plan card: Paperwise Free, Paperwise Pro, or Pro on your account (Pro bought on another of your devices, which turns on Sync & Backup and Forward by email here). On Free it has an Upgrade button; on Pro, Manage. Tap the card to open Plan & account: your subscription, Restore purchases, Devices, Sign out and Delete account.
- Sign in with Apple, while you’re signed out. An account is optional.
- Notices, only when something needs you: a scheduled erase of your backup with Cancel, Pro ending and what happens to your synced data, vault backups turned off on another device, a request to use an earlier recovery key, a device waiting to be allowed to update your backup, or the Back up your documents card.

The Private vaults row looks the same for everyone, whether or not you use vaults. Nothing on Account counts or names your vaults.
Step by step
Open a setting
- Tap Account in the bottom bar.
- Tap the row, for example Backup and sync.
- Tap Back to return to Account, or Home in the bottom bar.
Find where something moved
Older help pages, and older versions of Paperwise, grouped settings differently. Today:
- the iCloud backup and Sync & Backup are in Backup and sync
- shared links and Forward by email are in Share and receive
- the app lock and the vault lock on Home are in Lock and privacy
- your devices, sign out and delete account are on the plan card’s Plan & account
Free and Pro
The Account screen is the same on Free and Pro. Pro features show a Pro tag on Free, and tapping one shows what Pro includes. See Free and Pro.
Privacy
- Show the vault lock on the main screen (in Lock and privacy) decides whether Home shows a lock button for Private vaults. With it off, nothing on Home shows that vaults exist; open them from Account → Lock and privacy → Open Private vaults. See Show the vault lock on Home.
