These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name], [Address] (“we”), for the Paperwise app for iPhone and iPad, the share-link viewer and paperwise.app (together, “Paperwise”). Your content is yours
You keep all rights to the documents, photos, notes and files you put in Paperwise. We don’t claim any ownership. We process your content only to provide the features you use, as described in our privacy policy and security whitepaper.
Your keys, your responsibility
Paperwise is designed so that only your devices can open what it keeps in the cloud for you. That means:
- Keep your recovery keys safe. If you lose all your devices and your recovery key, nobody can recover your synced or backed-up data, including us.
- Back up. Your documents are left out of iPhone device backups. Turn on Paperwise’s encrypted iCloud backup if you want a copy.
- Hidden’s emergency passcode erases things. It irreversibly deletes the other Hidden spaces on that iPhone. Use it knowingly.
Free and Pro
Paperwise is free to use, with optional Pro subscriptions ($9.99 a month, or $59.99 a year with 3 days free) bought through Apple’s App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your Apple ID settings at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Payment, renewals and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms. Prices may vary by country and may change; we’ll tell you in advance as the App Store requires.
Pro’s AI helper has fair-use limits (currently 20 AI actions a day and 300 a month, and 100 namings a day). We may change limits or features with notice.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Paperwise to break the law, to store or share content you have no right to share, to harm others, or to attack, overload or probe the service beyond what our security policy allows. Don’t use Forward by email or share links to send spam or malware. We may suspend accounts or turn off share links that break these rules, as far as we can tell without reading your encrypted content.
Share links and Forward by email
Anyone with the whole share link can open it until it expires (at most 7 days), is used up or is turned off, and can save a copy. You’re responsible for whom you send links to. Email you forward isn’t end-to-end encrypted until it reaches us.
AI and conversions
AI features are optional. When you use them, the document’s text or page images are sent to our server and our AI provider to answer you. AI output can be wrong: check important facts (amounts, dates, names) against the original document.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Paperwise available and secure, but we can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or stop features. If we ever shut down a cloud feature, we’ll give you reasonable notice to keep copies of your data. Your vault on your iPhone keeps working without our servers for everything that runs on the device.
Liability

Ending these terms
You can stop using Paperwise at any time and delete your account in the app. We may end these terms if you seriously break them. Sections that by nature should survive (for example, liability) do.
Law and disputes
